Fluorspar is mainly used in blast furnace smelting, hot metal pretreatment, steelmaking (roughing) and secondary liquid steel refining under special furnace conditions. CaF2 is widely used in blast furnace smelting, so it is necessary to add fluorite for furnace cleaning and slag melting. In order to remove some harmful components or recover some beneficial components, hot metal pretreatment needs to be carried out before entering the steel-making furnace.
Lime and fluorite are mostly used as desulfurizer and dephosphorization agent in hot metal pretreatment in China. The addition amount of fluorspar is 1-1.5 kg / T (75% CaF2 content) in desulfurization pretreatment and 3-5 kg / T (75% CaF 2 content) in dephosphorization pretreatment. In steelmaking (roughing), flux is usually added according to the melting condition of slag. Fluorite can help other slagging materials melt and reduce the viscosity, so as to solve the problem of liquid metal and slag splashing caused by poor melting performance of slag in steelmaking process, which plays an irreplaceable role in ensuring the safe operation of smelting, metallurgical quality and energy saving. In converter and EAF steelmaking, fluorite has a better slag forming effect than other mineral materials.
In China, fluorite is widely used as flux in converter and EAF steelmaking. The general usage is 2-3kg / T (75% CaF2), and the demand for fluorite is greater for special steel and high-quality steel. In order to improve the properties of steel, the addition amount of fluorite in slagging materials used in domestic secondary refining of molten steel is 2 ~ 3kg / T.
