2000-ton Cutting Bag Aluminum Fluoride Was Loaded Into The Bulk Carrier “SEASTAR EXPLORER CERTS”

On 12th June, 2021, the bulk carrier “ARAMIS” berthed at the port, totally 2000-ton aluminum fluoride produced by HNNM was cutting bags and loaded in the bulk vessel for the overseas customers.

HNNM is the main producer of aluminum fluoride with total annual capacity 280k tons. The Molecular formula of aluminum fluoride is AlF3, relative molecular mass is 83.98. It is mainly used in the aluminum electrolysis industry to reduce the melting temperature of the electrolyte and increase the conductivity, as a flux for non-ferrous metals, as a flux and component of ceramic glaze and enamel glaze, and as a side fermentation in the production of essential oils The inhibitor. Aluminum fluoride also used as an inhibitor of side fermentation in alcohol production, welding fluids in metal welding, it can also be use in the manufacture of optical lenses, used as a catalyst for organic synthesis and a raw material for artificial cryolite.

Physical and Chemical Properties

Aluminum fluoride is a colorless triclinic crystal. The appearance is white powder or large rhombohedral hexahedral crystals. The density is 3.00g/cm3. The melting point is 1040°C. The boiling point (sublimation) is 1272°C. Slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water. It is hardly soluble in acid and alkali solutions, insoluble in most organic solvents, and insoluble in hydrofluoric acid and liquefied hydrogen fluoride. There is no reaction when heated with liquid ammonia or concentrated sulfuric acid, or eutectic with potassium hydroxide. It is not reduced by hydrogen, does not decompose but sublimates under strong heat, and its properties are very stable. When heated to 300-400℃, it can be partially decomposed into hydrogen fluoride and aluminum oxide by water vapor. There are three hydrates, namely monohydrate, trihydrate and nonahydrate.
