Physical properties
Appearance and Properties: White crystal, sweet taste; Solubility: soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, etc.
Industrial products for the pale white flake, granular or block, because of low iron salt with light green, and because of low iron salt oxidation and make the surface yellow. The coarse product is grayish white porous with fine grain structure.
Easily soluble in water, aluminum sulfate in pure sulfuric acid cannot be dissolved (just coexist), in sulfuric acid solution together with sulfuric acid dissolved in water, so the solubility of aluminum sulfate in sulfuric acid is the solubility of aluminum sulfate in water.
Application
About 50% of the total production of aluminum sulfate is used in papermaking, the next use is in drinking water, industrial water and industrial wastewater treatment as a flocculant, accounting for about 40% of the total production of aluminum sulfate.
When aluminum sulfate is added to such water, aluminum hydroxide flocs can be formed, which can absorb and precipitate bacteria, colloid and other suspended matter, and can be used in drinking water treatment to control the color and taste of the water.
