Aluminium Fluoride Prices Rise on Higher Fluorspar and HF Costs

Aluminium fluoride prices have moved higher in recent weeks as firm fluorspar and hydrofluoric acid costs continue to pressure production margins and limit spot availability. Domestic transaction levels have continued to move higher, while export quotations are being adjusted as overseas buyers reassess pricing, available tonnage and delivery schedules.

Fluorspar and aluminium fluoride materials showing upstream cost pressure

The main pressure is coming from the fluorine raw material side rather than aluminium prices themselves. Fluorspar remains firm, while higher HF prices are lifting the cost base for aluminium fluoride producers. Lower prices for some auxiliary raw materials have provided limited relief.

With margins still under pressure, producers have little incentive to increase spot availability significantly. The current move is therefore better viewed as cost-led repricing in a relatively tight market, rather than a short-term speculative spike.

Aluminium smelters continue to operate at relatively high rates, supporting steady demand for aluminium fluoride.

Overseas quotation activity has also increased, particularly from India, the Middle East, Egypt and Southeast Asia. Part of this reflects buyers checking prices earlier, comparing suppliers and confirming available tonnage before costs move further.

For procurement teams, price is now only one part of the decision. Available volume, production scheduling, quotation validity and shipment timing are becoming more important, especially for larger-volume and Q4 requirements.

The market is not in acute shortage, but supply flexibility has narrowed. Buyers with confirmed demand may benefit from confirming specifications, volumes and delivery schedules earlier rather than relying on short-term spot availability.
