Hydrofluoric Acid Procurement Remains Cost-Sensitive as Fluorspar Prices Stay Firm

Hydrofluoric acid procurement remains under cost pressure as firm fluorspar prices continue to support the production cost base of HF producers in China.

For industrial buyers, the main concern is no longer simply whether HF prices are still rising. The more important question is whether current quotations are reasonable and whether sufficient volume can be secured without increasing supply risk.

With acid-grade fluorspar remaining expensive and supply relatively tight, HF producers still have limited room to reduce offers significantly. A more stable market therefore does not necessarily mean that procurement costs have returned to previous levels.

Buyers should also avoid comparing quotations only by price. HF grade, order volume, delivery schedule, contract period and available supply can all affect the final offer. For continuous production, a slightly lower quotation may provide little value if the supplier cannot maintain consistent quality or reliable delivery.

In the current market, procurement decisions are increasingly about balancing price, availability and supply continuity.

Unless fluorspar costs ease materially, buyers may need to focus less on waiting for a sharp price correction and more on securing suitable supply, evaluating quotation validity and planning upcoming requirements in advance.
